Why two layers

A single-layer short has to choose: tight enough to stay put, or loose enough to be comfortable. Splitting the job removes the compromise. The inner liner sits close and stays where it's put, which leaves the outer layer free to hang away from the body — and means the two layers move against each other rather than against your skin. The curved split hem does the rest: it opens as the leg comes forward, so the fabric isn't pulled upward with every step.

The fabric

94% polyester, 6% spandex. Polyester fibres absorb almost none of their own weight in water, so sweat moves through the fabric and evaporates rather than sitting in it — the short stays light instead of turning heavy halfway through a session, and it's dry again within the hour. The spandex is what makes it stretch and then return: enough give for a deep squat or a full stride, enough recovery that it doesn't bag out at the knee of the liner after a few wears.
